European Roulette
European roulette contains 37 pockets: the numbers 1–36 plus a single green 0.
The numbers 1–36 are divided between red and black. The zero is green and is what gives the casino its mathematical advantage on standard bets.
A roulette bet can cover one number, several adjacent numbers or a large group such as red, black, odd, even, low or high.
Know Your Bets
Higher payout, lower probability
Straight Up, Split, Street, Corner and Six Line bets cover relatively few numbers. Because they hit less often, their payouts are higher.
More coverage, lower payout
Dozens, columns, red/black, odd/even and low/high cover larger portions of the table and therefore hit more frequently.
Why the house has an edge
Red and black each contain 18 numbers, but the European wheel contains 37 pockets because of the zero. That means an even-money bet wins on 18 of 37 outcomes, not 18 of 36.
The difference between the fair 50% probability and the real roulette probability creates the casino advantage.
37 pockets with one zero. This is the version used throughout ACE LAB's primary roulette training.
38 pockets with both 0 and 00. The additional zero increases the casino advantage on standard bets.
